CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

KEY STAGE 4 – YEARS 10 and 11

In Years 10 and 11 all students currently study core subjects and either school based option subjects or external courses.  In KS4 students are required to study in greater depth to develop very specific subject skills. To give students the opportunity to do this they are given a number of choices as to which subjects they wish to continue.  They are also offered new courses from which to choose, however, these change each year.

LEARNING COACHES

Every student in KS4 has been allocated a Learning Coach who will mentor each student approximately 4 times a year. We mentor students so that they have one-to-one interviews to discuss academic progress and any other issues that might arise. This enables us to give each student appropriate guidance to progress.

TEACHING CLASSES

In RE, Mathematics, English, Science, Welsh and Welsh Baccalaureate all students are set on the basis of their ability across the whole year group.

If you are concerned about the academic progress of your son or daughter please contact their Progress Leader at the school.
