The Catholic Catechism states, Prayer is the raising of one’s heart and mind to God or the requesting of good things from God (Catholic Catechism 2259).
Prayer is a central part of the life of the school. Every lesson begins with theSign of the Cross as a reminder that our school life and learning is always in the presence of God.
Every morning during form time we carry out our act of worship, we follow a pattern where the liturgy consists of four parts – a gathering, The Word (from the bible), a response to The Word and a sending out with a mission. This is based on the liturgical year and key themes of celebration and focus throughout the year.
Over a two week period, our whole school community worships as a year group in assemblies which are led by both staff and pupils. The theme is relevant to the liturgical calendar which revolves around the Gospel of the Sunday before and allows our students to pray alongside the Universal Catholic Community.
Staff collectively gather to pray every Friday before morning briefing in the Chapel, this is led by different areas of the school on a rota basis.
